Smoke Creek Ranch is located in the south central area of Pennsylvania. We are a fairly young breeding operation that started to take shape in early 2006 when we began our search for AQHA and APHA broodmares, fillies and colts. We had decided quite a few years back that we would build our herd using the "Three Bars" bloodlines, specifically Sonny Dee Bar, Zippo Pine Bar, and Doc Bar. We had also discovered the benefits of the Natural Horsemanship approach to training through working with our pleasure horses we had ridden over the years. So combining horses that have great minds and are willing to learn with the Natural Horsemanship methods of training, we feel we are off to a great start.

Our young breeding herd consists of two yearling colts, both are Sonny Dee Bar bred, two yearling fillies which boast of Zippo Pine Bar and Sonny Dee Bar breeding, and Pepsi Poco breeding which leads back to Leo San, and our three broodmares who are from the By Thunder (leading back to Three Bars, Joe Hancock and King), Zippo Pine Bar and Doc Bar bloodlines. Our current line of fillies and broodmares give us a nice mixture of the "Thoroughbred" influenced Quarter Horse as well as the original "Stock horse" Quarter Horse. We have the ability to breed both AQHA and APHA registered horses.

Our plans for 2008 are to continue in our training of our young horses and to begin breeding our broodmares. We have selected a few specific outside stallions that will continue to bring in the "Bar" influence and also include the likes of "The Invester" and "Rugged Lark". So keep an eye out in the near future for some really nice colts and fillies coming out of Smoke Creek Ranch.
