Duke's rugged cowboy image and horsemanship skills gave him the opportunity to work as an actor, mostly doing 'hard riding' in television, western films and commercials. His albums have all received international acclaim and recognition. His dedication to the preservation of the working cowboy has driven him to portray the cowboy ideals in his art, and when he is not performing his music and poetry, or producing other artists, he often can be found 'day working' on ranches all over the West.

Duke, who worked in movies, television and commercials during his 15-year residency in California, mostly doing horseback and cowboy roles, was a double for Robert Redford in the movie, “Sneakers” (1992), which also starred Dan Ackroyd and Sydney Poitier.
